Remote Lead Software Engineer II, Data

Description:

• The Lead Software Engineer, Data at Best Egg will collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand their data needs and satisfy those needs using a variety of technologies.
• Daily responsibilities include creating both straightforward and intricate database views, as well as developing data pipelines through the use of Python.
• The role involves using SQL to interact with data and Python to write application logic for automating data solutions.
• The engineer will write automated unit tests to ensure the application adheres to its requirements over time.
• The position requires identifying and resolving issues through meticulous debugging of data pipelines involving technologies like Docker, GitHub Actions, Python, SQL, dbt, and various AWS services.
• The engineer may also develop internal tools using Python or Go to enhance the efficiency of the data team's processes.

Requirements:

• Strong programming fundamentals are essential for this role.
• Candidates must have experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with cloud computing environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Serverless) is required.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent experience is necessary.
• Experience with Git, building unit tests, Docker, Unix environments, and owning responsibility for production processes is expected.
• Excellent documentation skills and the ability to evaluate and question business rules are important.
