Description:
As a Machine Learning Research Scientist, you will lead groundbreaking ML research and development at SmarterDx.
You will collaborate closely with experienced engineers and clinicians to turn your inventions into enterprise-grade products.
With minimal supervision, you will establish a research agenda informed by emerging trends in AI.
You will develop and rigorously evaluate your proposed algorithms, deploy them into production, and monitor their impact.
Collaboration with other machine learning research scientists will be essential to identify promising areas of AI/ML R&D for SmarterDx.
You will establish shared infrastructure to accelerate research efforts across the team.
Responsibilities include inventing and deploying state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms.
You will share insights and breakthroughs through publications in top-tier conferences, journals, blog posts, and other mediums.
You will survey and share relevant AI/ML research and emerging technologies within the company.
Establishing and owning an ambitious research agenda with regular milestones is expected.
You will frequently present your work internally and solicit feedback from other team members.
Providing constructive feedback to other ML research scientists on the team is part of your role.
You will collaborate cross-functionally with clinical, engineering, and product teams to understand key needs and prioritize research accordingly.
The position requires working in a fast-paced and rewarding environment that demands high-quality work with minimal supervision.
Requirements:
A deep “under-the-hood” understanding of modern neural network architectures is required.
Extensive experience developing and implementing state-of-the-art deep learning models using frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX is necessary.
A proven track record in clinical machine learning research, demonstrated through first-author publications at top-tier conferences and journals, is essential.
You must have a demonstrated understanding of recent and relevant AI/ML research trends and the ability to quickly assess the quality of published clinical ML research.
A Ph.D. (or Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience) in Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with an AI/ML focus is required.
The ability to communicate clearly, as evidenced by blog posts, conference talks, published research papers, etc., is necessary.
