Description:

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior C++ Software Engineer for Data Engines.
You will have the opportunity to work directly on Theseus, the accelerator-native data processing engine built for composability.
You will work closely with Voltron Data development teams to build, optimize, and maintain our data execution framework.
Your responsibilities will include adding new features, making the engine run faster and more scalable, and contributing to new core architectural components that will enable the engine to run at Petabyte scale.
You will spend time learning about Apache Arrow, the compute primitives used in Theseus, the query parser and optimizer, and other foundational components upon joining.
Within a month, you will profile single node and distributed query executions and analyze engine telemetry to understand engine operations and solve distributed engine issues.
Within 6 months, you will build new relational algebra components to expand SQL coverage or DataFrame functionality coverage.
Within 12 months, you will propose and implement core architecture improvements to the engine and work on challenging tasks such as language-agnostic user-defined functions, multi-query concurrency, and multi-tenancy.

Requirements:

Experience with data processing engines or frameworks is preferred.
Experience in distributed and multi-threaded systems is required.
Experience in hardware resource management, including memory and thread pools, is necessary.
Familiarity with SQL and non-SQL systems and their computational abstractions is important.
Proficiency in developing in C++, especially using modern C++, is essential.
Experience developing for multiple types of hardware (i.e., CPU, GPU) is beneficial.
