Description:
Houzz is seeking a world-class Product Data Scientist to join the Pro Data Science team, focusing on uncovering critical insights and delivering models to support intelligent business decisions.
The role involves working on critical projects that provide data-driven insights to guide product development and business direction.
Responsibilities include collaborating with leadership, product, data, and engineering teams to identify, define, and launch strategic and operational data science initiatives aimed at improving Houzz Pro product offerings.
The Product Data Scientist will define key metrics (KPIs) to guide business decision-making across various aspects of the site and manage these metrics efficiently.
The position requires designing product experiments, interpreting results to draw detailed conclusions, and conducting root cause analysis.
The individual will own the end-to-end execution of projects by collaborating with a broad cross-functional team.
The role also involves working with data infrastructure and product engineering teams to define data collection needs and providing recommendations to assist in quick product ideation and feature launch decisions.
The Product Data Scientist will develop and maintain data products to serve real-time business insights or to be used in production environments.
Requirements:
A Master's Degree with at least 5 years of experience in a Data Science role within a high-growth tech company is required.
Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, including aggregate functions and various types of joins using Hive or Presto, is essential, along with strong programming skills in Python or R.
A proven track record of making data-driven recommendations that have a real business impact is necessary.
Experience with machine learning and statistical modeling, along with a passion for model evaluation and applications, is required.
Proficiency in advanced experimental design, testing, and analysis is expected.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
Experience in driving large cross-functional initiatives is required.
The candidate should be self-motivated, independent, and eager to learn.

The role offers an annual starting salary range of $150,000 - $165,000, with actual compensation influenced by various factors including skills and experience.
