Description:
The Personalization team at Spotify is focused on enhancing user experience by making music and podcast recommendations easier and more enjoyable.
The team is responsible for popular features like Blend and Discover Weekly, built through a deep understanding of music and podcasts.
The Senior Machine Learning Engineer will collaborate with research scientists, data scientists, and engineers to prototype and productize advanced machine learning solutions that improve recommendations and user satisfaction.
Responsibilities include designing, building, evaluating, integrating, and refining reward signals for recommendations through hands-on machine learning development.
The role involves leading collaborations across the Personalization team to integrate and A/B test mid-term signals in various recommendation systems.
The engineer will promote best practices in machine learning systems development, testing, and evaluation within the team and the organization.
Requirements:
A strong background in machine learning with a focus on applying theory to real-world applications, particularly in statistics and optimization.
Expertise in sequential models, transformer architecture models, and fine-tuning processes for sequential models is required.
Hands-on experience with large, cross-collaborative machine learning projects and managing stakeholders is essential.
Proficiency in implementing production machine learning systems at scale using Java, Scala, Python, or similar languages is necessary, with experience in TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn being a strong plus.
Familiarity with large-scale, distributed data processing frameworks/tools like Apache Beam, Apache Spark, or Scio, as well as cloud platforms like GCP or AWS, is required.
A commitment to agile software processes is important.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $176,166 to $251,666, plus equity.
