The Senior Solutions Engineer - Data & ML will report to the Head of Customer Solutions and will be responsible for ensuring the technical feasibility and success of Union Cloud PoC’s and production deployments.
This role requires partnering with both customer and internal stakeholders to achieve technical success.
The engineer will represent the "voice of the user" and promote a user-first mindset across the company.
Responsibilities include helping Union Cloud users get started and debugging problems in their workflows.
The engineer will empower customers to achieve efficiency, reliability, and repeatability for their ML applications by educating them on best practices.
Collaboration with Product and Engineering teams is essential to provide context and insights for feature design and prioritization.
The role involves developing, maintaining, and documenting representative examples for Union Cloud customers.
The engineer will learn, contribute to, and champion the Flyte open-source workflow orchestration system and related Union Cloud technologies.
Educating technical users and decision-makers on Flyte and Union Cloud is a key responsibility.
Maintaining communication with customers regarding their adoption trends, sentiment, and opportunities for deeper engagement is crucial.
The engineer will support retention and adoption efforts of Union Cloud by understanding customers' technical and business needs.

Requirements:

Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience solving real-world ML problems to help users achieve efficiency, reliability, and repeatability for their ML applications.
Solid Python programming and Kubernetes debugging skills are required; experience with Go is a plus.
Familiarity with public cloud technologies and services, DevOps/MLOps, networking, and security principles is necessary.
The role is suited for individuals interested in a deeply technical customer-facing position involving data and machine learning at scale.
Significant hands-on experience with machine learning and orchestration, particularly in building production-use ML systems in multi-tenant cloud products, is essential.
An in-depth understanding of data processing, ML systems, MLOps, and machine learning infrastructure components is required.
Familiarity with ML libraries such as Spark, Airflow, Tensorflow, and Pytorch, as well as a grounding in distributed systems fundamentals, is important.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an empathetic tone, are necessary.
Previous experience in a similar role supporting customers’ engineering teams in adopting open-source and commercial products for data and/or machine learning is required.
It is a strong plus if candidates have contributed to the Flyte or Union communities through meetups, conferences, workshops, events, or open-source development.
