This is a fully remote W-2 contract opportunity based in the United States, with no C2C arrangements available.
The position requires the candidate to work standard Eastern Time business hours and be exclusively dedicated to this role without any concurrent job engagements.
The role involves working in a professional, distraction-free environment and requires the camera to remain on during working hours, including meetings and collaboration sessions.
The Senior Systems Engineer will join a high-performing engineering team responsible for owning and scaling a critical API platform.
The role requires a blend of infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, and networking experience, with a focus on deep Linux systems knowledge, cloud infrastructure (preferably GCP), automation, and networking.
Compensation for this position ranges from $70 to $75 per hour, with the engagement running through the end of the year and strong potential for extension.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 5+ years of professional experience in roles such as Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), Infrastructure Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Systems Engineer.
Hands-on expertise in Terraform, which is core to platform automation, is required.
Deep fluency in Docker, including inspecting containers, logs, and performance, is necessary.
Proficiency in Git/GitHub Actions is required.
Candidates must have scripting experience in Bash, Python, or Go (only one is required).
Strong Linux system administration and tuning skills are essential.
General networking knowledge covering OSI layers 2-7 is required.
Experience with cloud platforms is necessary, with a preference for GCP.
Familiarity with Prometheus and Grafana for metrics, alerting, and SLO/SLI awareness is required.
Knowledge of JSON/YAML is necessary.
It is preferred that candidates have experience in high-scale, high-availability environments and familiarity with tools such as Alertmanager, Ansible, Kubernetes, Spinnaker, and Looker.
Understanding of Go code (reading, not necessarily writing) is a plus.
A FinOps mindset or exposure to cloud cost optimization is also desirable.
Candidates should possess soft skills such as ownership of work, the ability to handle direct feedback, quick learning capabilities, and a willingness to share their voice.
