Description:

  • Nava is a consultancy and public benefit corporation focused on making government services simple and effective.
  • The Software Engineer (Backend - Python) will work remotely and is responsible for developing end-to-end systems for a major government partner.
  • The role involves modernizing an existing legacy enterprise platform to improve public-facing processes and user experiences.
  • Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and delivering scalable systems that millions of Americans depend on.
  • The engineer will collaborate with fellow engineers and government partners to architect, implement, and deploy new systems and improvements.
  • The position requires working in an agile manner to efficiently ship new features that meet user needs.
  • The engineer will create tools and processes to automate development, testing, and production workflows.
  • Responsibilities also include writing and reviewing technical documentation, performing code reviews, and participating in an on-call rotation for production support.
  • The role may involve hiring activities such as submitting referrals and conducting interviews.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience working in an agile, multidisciplinary team environment, preferably with medium to large-scale cloud platforms.
  • Experience developing applications with Python, Fargate, Lambda, and OpenAPI is required.
  • Candidates should have experience working with AWS Step Functions and utilizing AWS cloud-native services and big data technologies like Apache Spark and Parquet.
  • The ideal candidate should possess tenacity to dive into problems and iterate in working code.
  • Candidates must be highly resourceful, reliable, and detail-oriented.
  • The ability to think strategically about trade-offs and short-term versus long-term benefits is essential.
  • An adaptive, empathetic, collaborative, and positive mindset is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
