Description:

The Software Engineer (Backend - Python) will work remotely and is responsible for developing end-to-end systems for a major government partner.
The role involves modernizing an existing legacy enterprise platform to improve public-facing processes and user experiences.
Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and delivering scalable systems that millions of Americans depend on.
The engineer will collaborate with fellow engineers and government partners to architect, implement, and deploy new systems and improvements.
The position requires working in an agile manner to efficiently ship new features that meet user needs.
The engineer will create tools and processes to automate development, testing, and production workflows.
Responsibilities also include writing and reviewing technical documentation, performing code reviews, and participating in an on-call rotation for production support.
The role may involve hiring activities such as submitting referrals and conducting interviews.
Requirements:
Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience working in an agile, multidisciplinary team environment, preferably with medium to large-scale cloud platforms.
Experience developing applications with Python, Fargate, Lambda, and OpenAPI is required.
Candidates should have experience working with AWS Step Functions and utilizing AWS cloud-native services and big data technologies like Apache Spark and Parquet.
The ideal candidate should possess tenacity to dive into problems and iterate in working code.
Candidates must be highly resourceful, reliable, and detail-oriented.
The ability to think strategically about trade-offs and short-term versus long-term benefits is essential.
An adaptive, empathetic, collaborative, and positive mindset is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
