Mistral AI is seeking two highly skilled and proactive Freelance Software Engineers to join Laure's dynamic team working on Mistral Code, an IDE extension.
The role focuses on accelerating the development of features that integrate Mistral's powerful AI models into developers' workflows, emphasizing enterprise-grade capabilities.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, and deploying core features for the Mistral Code IDE extension primarily using TypeScript.
The position involves engineering sophisticated pre-processing and post-processing logic for LLM interactions, including complex string manipulation, data transformation, and handling text streaming.
Candidates will tackle complex algorithmic challenges related to code analysis, transformation, and generation within the constraints of an IDE environment.
The role requires writing clean, maintainable, performant, and well-documented code, adhering to Mistral AI's high standards for quality and innovation.
Collaboration with a small team is essential, including participation in weekly syncs, contributing to feature prioritization, and effective communication via Slack and Linear.

Requirements:

Expert proficiency in TypeScript, particularly for complex application logic, algorithmic tasks, and "Vanilla" TS development beyond typical frameworks is required.
Proven experience in developing IDE extensions (VS Code, JetBrains), desktop applications (Electron, Tauri), or complex browser extensions is necessary.
Strong algorithmic problem-solving skills with demonstrable experience in advanced string manipulation, text processing, and working with complex data structures, especially relevant to LLM inputs/outputs, are essential.
Understanding of LLMs and their application in developer tools is a strong plus.
Candidates must be able to quickly ramp up on, understand, and contribute effectively to existing, complex codebases.
An autonomous, proactive attitude with a strong problem-solving mindset, keen attention to detail, and a pragmatic approach to engineering is required.
Excellent team player qualities with a low ego, openness to feedback, and strong communication skills are necessary.
Familiarity with Kotlin is a plus.
