The Sr. Software Engineer (Backend) will work on small teams to build scalable infrastructure for government services.
Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and delivering services that millions of Americans depend on.
The role involves developing end-to-end systems for major government partners, extending existing codebases using DevOps, Javascript, and Python.
The engineer will collaborate with fellow engineers to design, review, and build well-crafted software.
The position requires working in an agile manner to efficiently ship new features that meet user needs.
The engineer will create tools and processes to automate development, testing, and production workflows.
Responsibilities also include writing and reviewing technical documentation, performing code reviews, and participating in an on-call rotation to support production systems.

Requirements:

Candidates must have at least 6 years of hands-on professional experience building web applications and creating APIs.
Experience with backend and DevOps skills, including Java Spring, Kubernetes, and SQL/RDS, is required.
A strong understanding of web and mobile user interface design best practices is necessary.
Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision.
Familiarity with web accessibility standards is essential to deliver services that are intuitive for all users.
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills are required.
