Scalar is a fast-growing startup focused on open source tooling for reading, managing, and testing OpenAPI documents.
The company values typescript and open source, and is looking for talented individuals to join their team.
The position is for a Staff Fullstack Engineer who will work remotely.
The role requires typescript developers who are comfortable operating independently within a small team.
Developers are expected to take broad ownership over features, seeing concepts from conception to production deployment while collaborating across teams.
An in-house first approach is preferred, with a focus on reducing external dependencies.
Strong communication skills and a high level of kindness are essential.
Candidates should have a proven ability to deliver features quickly with a high level of quality.
Preference will be given to remote workers located in Western Canada and the USA.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 5+ years of development experience, regardless of the technology stack.
Strong skills in typescript are required.
Experience with OpenAPI and JSON Schema is a bonus.
Familiarity with GCP deployment and Kubernetes is also a plus.
A love for server-side rendering (SSR) is desirable.
Past experience mentoring junior developers is advantageous.
The role involves significant backend service management, but candidates are also expected to contribute to the frontend and may lead the development of new features in either area.
Candidates should be willing to wear many hats and help out where needed in a small team of 10+ developers.

Scalar offers both fixed-term contract and full-time permanent positions.
The compensation range is between $150-250k (CAD) or $105-180k (USD) based on experience.
