Remote Staff Software Engineer

Description:

• Apollo GraphQL is seeking a Staff Software Engineer with deep front-end expertise to enhance developer experience.
• The role is remote and can be performed from anywhere in the United States or Canada.
• The Graph Tooling Team is responsible for Apollo’s core developer tooling platform, including the Studio web app, IDE plugins, and Sandbox tools.
• The mission of the team is to delight developers by building tools that reduce friction and visualize complex GraphQL workflows.
• Responsibilities include enhancing React component infrastructure, improving UI/UX design, developing new interfaces, creating intuitive UIs for local testing, designing browser plugins for troubleshooting, architecting a front-end platform-as-a-service, building a robust testing infrastructure, implementing design system standards, and exploring AI-enabled developer workflows.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have deep expertise in React and modern front-end development.
• A strong background in web application architecture, component design, and performance optimization is required.
• Solid understanding of UI/UX principles, particularly in technical products, is essential.
• Experience in building and maintaining a robust testing infrastructure is necessary.
• Candidates should have experience in SaaS or developer tooling environments.
• A track record of shipping large-scale front-end products is expected.
• A passion for clean code, great design, and thoughtful user experiences is important.
• A strong portfolio of front-end projects or tools is required.

Benefits:

• The salary range for this position is $182,750 - $231,125 per year, based on skills and experience.
