Description:
CodePath is a national non-profit focused on creating a diverse generation of software engineers, CTOs, and founders.
The organization delivers industry-vetted courses and career support for Black, Latino/a, Indigenous, and low-income students.
As of 2023, CodePath serves 10,000 students annually and aims to scale to ~100,000 students by 2028.
The Staff Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain web-based applications that enhance the educational experience for emerging engineers.
The role is remote, full-time, and reports to the VP of Product Engineering.
Compensation ranges from $160,000 to $180,000 per year.
The engineer will work on a custom platform software suite that includes various tools for admissions, learning management, grading, and student support.
The position involves collaborating with stakeholders to understand needs and making high-impact decisions on features and functionalities.
Potential projects include using Ruby on Rails for cost reduction, building an AI companion for students, refining course materials, and scaling systems to support more students.
Requirements:
A minimum of 10 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years using Ruby on Rails.
Experience with at least one infrastructure-as-code tool such as Terraform or Ansible.
Strong understanding of DevOps practices and tools.
Passion for creating great web products.
Strong experience with frameworks like Rails, Sinatra/Padrino, or Django.
Familiarity with Bootstrap Grid and responsive design frameworks.
Experience with PostgreSQL and database design.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
A passion for education and a desire to make a positive impact in the world.
Nice to have: Experience with Slim or HAML, working with LLMs and Generative AI, familiarity with Docker, and experience deploying applications on GCP.
