Senior Full stack engineer

I'm Akshay Sharma, a senior full-stack engineer with 5+ years of experience building web products end to end. I'm applying because this role matches the work I've been doing and the kind of team I want to grow with.

Right now I'm a Senior Software Engineer at Bloom Social, a London-based team I work with remotely. I lead development of a real-time social finance platform. On the backend, I built event-driven services in Node.js and TypeScript with WebSockets, REST and GraphQL APIs, running on PostgreSQL and MongoDB and deployed on AWS. On the frontend, I built and maintain the production app in Svelte and TypeScript. I also designed the cross-chain wallet and transaction infrastructure, integrating Zerion, Adamik and Turnkey. Since the team is in London, I already work European hours every day.

Before Bloom, I was a founding engineer at Astrotech Labs for close to three years. I set up the React, Next.js and TypeScript patterns the rest of the team built on. I also wrote the core pricing and matching algorithms for token swaps and liquidity pools, and built real-time data pipelines in Python and Node.js. Before that, from 2020 to 2023, I freelanced and interned with startups, open source programs and agencies, shipping apps in React, Vue/Nuxt, Node.js and NestJS for clients who needed working products, not prototypes.

Outside of work, I founded Orbital Pay, a payments project that received a $150K grant from Aptos. I was a Grand Finalist at Smart India Hackathon, won U-Hack 5.0 out of 5,800+ participants, and I'm a Codeforces Expert. I was also in the first cohort of Code For GovTech.

What I care about most is shipping things people actually use, and owning them after launch. I'm comfortable across the stack, I pick up new tools quickly, and I do my best work in remote teams that trust engineers with real ownership.
