For over a decade, my career has been deeply focused on building and optimizing data architectures. Currently, I am the lead Data Engineer responsible for my company's core data ecosystem. I navigate complex challenges on a daily basis, such as ensuring data consistency and managing volumes of over 10 TB in the data platform.
Over the past couple of years, I have designed and implemented a modern Data Lakehouse from the ground up. My daily stack involves Apache Spark (PySpark), Apache Iceberg, ClickHouse, and Apache Airflow. I don't just use managed cloud services; I personally model, tune, validate, and maintain these tools directly on Linux servers within Oracle Cloud.
Before this, I spent years integrating APIs and flat files to build the foundation for executive dashboards, as well as developing and optimizing extraction pipelines for PostgreSQL Data Warehouses. To complement my heavy hands-on infrastructure experience with modern cloud architecture standards, I am also an Azure Certified Data Engineer.
While my current expertise lies in data, my professional foundation is built on robust software engineering and project management—a combination that deeply influences how I work today.
Earlier in my career, I spent over five years as a Software Developer. I built complex, distributed systems (such as CORBA) using C, C++, and Java across highly heterogeneous operating systems, including Linux, Solaris, SGI Irix, and Windows. Alongside this, I actively administered Linux and Solaris servers.
Additionally, I spent several years in technical leadership and project management roles. I hold an International MBA in Project Management, as well as PMP and some Oracle certifications like OBIEE Specialist.
My background in low-level software development and project management isn't just past experience—it is the lens through which I approach data engineering today. It sets me apart in a few key ways:
