At ReferralGPS, one of the things I’m most proud of is improving both performance and reliability at scale.
For example, recently I have designed and implemented a smart clinician search feature with complex ranking and distribution rules. When ActiveRecord couldn’t handle the required partitioned logic efficiently, I moved the solution into PostgreSQL using window functions and a custom database function. After several rounds of optimisation, we reduced search response times to milliseconds — roughly a 250% performance improvement.
In parallel, I built and mentored a small engineering team and established strong testing practices. We consistently maintained over 95% test coverage and shipped changes with zero production downtime — even without a dedicated QA team. That balance of speed and stability is something I care deeply about.
