Sr Database Administrator

I have spent more than 15 years as a Database Administrator, almost all of it in consulting and managed services. That means I have rarely inherited a clean environment — I am used to walking into systems I did not build, figuring out what is actually there, and taking ownership of them. I have done that for clients like KPMG, AT&T, GE and ABB.

My depth is SQL Server, with production experience across MySQL, PostgreSQL and Oracle, on-premise and in AWS and Azure. The work I enjoy most is the shift from reactive to proactive: building monitoring that catches problems before users do, automating deployments so releases stop being risky, and setting standards where none existed.

What makes me a bit different is how I have integrated AI into the technical work itself. I built a workflow combining PowerShell and Claude for performance analysis — the collection side is scripted, the analysis is AI-assisted, and the validation stays with me. It recently helped me diagnose a stored procedure running 53 seconds on billion-row tables, where the root cause was a cardinality estimate off by 5,000x.

I am looking for a senior or lead role where I own a production environment end to end, with room to improve it rather than only keep it running.
