Software engineer

I’m Shubham Kumar Singh, a Software Engineer with over two years of experience building enterprise software and distributed backend systems across product-based organizations. I graduated with a B.Tech in Information Technology from the Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM), Kolkata in 2024, with a CGPA of 9.25.

I started my career with Tata Consultancy Services, where I worked on the Organization & People Management (OPM) module of TCS CHROMA, an enterprise HR platform. My responsibilities included developing Java Spring Boot microservices, building REST APIs, improving backend performance, resolving security vulnerabilities, and delivering scalable features for employee lifecycle and workforce management. Working on a large-scale enterprise platform strengthened my fundamentals in backend engineering, microservices, API design, and delivering reliable software for enterprise customers.

Most recently, I worked as a Software Engineer at Dell Technologies, where I had the opportunity to work on Dell’s enterprise data protection portfolio, primarily PowerProtect Data Manager (PPDM), EVIA Core, and Cyber Recovery. My work spanned multiple areas of the platform, including designing backend services, developing Java and Go microservices, modernizing legacy CLI-based workflows into REST APIs, strengthening application security, improving telemetry and audit logging, and contributing to CI/CD automation. I also contributed to EVIA Core’s appliance lifecycle workflows, Cyber Recovery integrations, enterprise serviceability, and platform reliability. This gave me hands-on experience building distributed systems that support mission-critical data protection for enterprise customers worldwide. Working on products trusted by global enterprises gave me valuable exposure to building software where reliability, security, and scalability are critical.

My primary technical expertise includes Java, Spring Boot, Golang, Python, SQL, PostgreSQL, REST APIs, Docker, Jenkins, Git, Linux, Angular, and Generative AI technologies, including Agentic AI and RAG-based applications.

Beyond my professional experience, I worked as a Machine Learning Research Intern at IIT Kharagpur, where I co-authored a peer-reviewed journal publication in the field of signal processing and machine learning. I also enjoy participating in hackathons and building products from scratch. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to win multiple national hackathons, and most recently, my team finished as the runner-up in Dell Technologies’ internal AI Hackathon by building an AI-powered payment intelligence platform that analyzed payment failures, issuer behaviour, and retry strategies to identify opportunities for improving payment success rates. This experience further strengthened my interest in applying AI to solve real-world engineering problems.
