The Ranking Team builds and optimizes machine learning models to enhance product discovery through search on e-commerce platforms.
The Data Analyst will evaluate and improve the performance of ranking models, features, and configurations, running numerous A/B tests monthly and processing terabytes of data.
The role involves collaborating with engineers, data scientists, and product managers to define success, uncover insights, and influence roadmap decisions through data.
Key challenges include analyzing ranking performance, understanding shopper behavior, designing and validating metrics, building analytics infrastructure, and driving data-informed decisions.
Requirements:
A minimum of 3 years of experience analyzing complex experiments and extracting actionable insights from large datasets.
Proficiency in SQL for terabyte-scale data extraction and transformation, and experience with distributed systems like Spark.
Strong Python programming skills for exploratory analysis, custom metrics development, and building internal tools.
Understanding of machine learning pipelines, training data quality, and ranking/recommendation metrics.
Ability to design metrics that accurately reflect model and product performance, ensuring alignment with business outcomes.
Experience in data visualization using tools like Tableau or Looker, and the ability to present complex findings clearly to various audiences.
Strong cross-functional leadership skills to influence product and engineering decisions through data storytelling.
