  • Our Client is one of the United States’ largest insurers, providing a wide range of insurance and financial services products with gross written premium well over US$25 Billion (P&C).
  • They serve more than 10 million U.S. households with over 19 million individual policies across all 50 states through the efforts of over 48,000 exclusive and independent agents and nearly 18,500 employees.
  • The Data Engineer will consult on data projects of intermediate complexity, with limited coaching and guidance, to understand design requirements and existing business processes.
  • This role involves leading the design, development, and implementation of data products while practicing code management and integration with current architectural and data governance guidelines.
  • The Data Engineer will produce data building blocks, data models, and data flows for various client requests, including dimensional data, standard and ad hoc reporting, data feeds, dashboard reporting, and data science research.
  • Responsibilities include creating business user access methods to structured and unstructured data and utilizing techniques such as mapping data to a common data model, natural language processing, and transforming data as necessary to satisfy business rules.
  • The role requires translating business data stories into a technical story breakdown structure and work estimates for a schedule or planned agile sprint.
  • The Data Engineer will develop and maintain moderately complex scalable data pipelines for both streaming and batch requirements and build out new API integrations to support increased demands of data volume and complexity.
  • Additional tasks include prepping/cleansing data to optimize for downstream reporting and applying sound knowledge of data governance concepts.
  • The position involves executing on mid-size projects and large tasks within timelines and developing data project plans with some supervision.

Requirements:

  • Minimum required total work experience is 4-6 years, with a preferred experience of 7-9 years.
  • Minimum required work experience in this field is also 4-6 years, with a preferred experience of 7-9 years.
  • Candidates must be fluent in English.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Additional preferred branches of study include knowledge of Insurance P&C.
  • Advanced skills in SQL/PLSQL (7+ years) are required.
  • Intermediate skills in Data Warehousing (4-6 years), Oracle Data Integrator ETL (4-6 years), and Oracle Platform (4-6 years) are necessary.
  • Intermediate skills in Office Suite (4-6 years) are also required.
  • Entry-level skills in .Net (1-3 years) are preferred.
