Remote Data Engineer

Description:

• Capital Technology Group (CTG) is seeking a Data Engineer to support high-impact civic tech within the federal government.
• The role involves building scalable, high-impact data systems that power analytics, AI, and business decisions.
• Responsibilities include designing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines on Databricks, orchestrating transformations using dbt, and shaping a modern data lakehouse architecture.
• The Data Engineer will collaborate with data analysts, scientists, and business partners to translate raw data into actionable insights.
• The position requires optimizing data workflows for performance, cost, and scalability, and implementing data quality, lineage, and CI/CD best practices.
• The Data Engineer will mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and communicate technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Applicants must be US Citizens and able to obtain Public Trust clearance.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
• Candidates must have 3+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering.
• Strong SQL and Python skills are essential.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks (PySpark, Delta Lake, or Databricks SQL) is required.
• Proficiency in dbt (core or Cloud), including model development, tests, and deployment is necessary.
• Familiarity with data warehouse or lakehouse architectures (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or similar) is expected.
• Comfort working in version-controlled, collaborative environments (Git/GitHub) is important.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, with the ability to explain complex topics to diverse audiences.
• Nice to have skills include exposure to CI/CD, Terraform, Airflow, or data observability tools.
