The role involves owning the lifecycle of analytics-ready datasets, from ingestion to transformation and documentation.
The Data Engineer will build and maintain testing, monitoring, and alerting systems to ensure data quality and pipeline reliability.
Translating business questions into efficient queries and datasets for reporting and experimentation is a key task.
The position requires maintaining documentation and supporting data discoverability through clear definitions, testing, and lineage tracking.
The Data Engineer will work with a lean, agile team using CI/CD and Kanban methodologies and partner with stakeholders to create trusted datasets for dashboards and analysis.
The role reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer.
Requirements:
Candidates must be ready to tackle the challenge of improving democracy for the greater good.
Proficiency in SQL and experience in writing modular, reusable dbt models to support analytics workflows is required.
A minimum of 4 years of relevant full-time work experience, preferably in a fast-paced startup environment, is necessary.
Interest in using AI, LLMs, and automation of tasks through AI, with previous work or personal projects in this area, is desired.
Strong skills in stakeholder engagement and requirements gathering are essential.
Candidates should be adaptable, willing to learn new skills, and able to work independently while collaborating with others to solve problems in real-time.
Bonus qualifications include experience in metrics layer design, knowledge of distributed computing with Pyspark on Databricks, and involvement in politics or democracy reform.
