The role is part of the data engineering core in the Translational Data Sciences group.
The position involves working with data engineers and data scientists to build computational tools and address scientific questions related to patients, diseases, and drug development.
Responsibilities include transforming structured and unstructured data into analysis-ready products for internal teams.
The role requires collaboration with data engineers and data scientists in areas such as epidemiology, patient clustering, and biomarker identification.
Key tasks include developing data transformation pipelines, contributing to the data source backend, building visualization tools, and using agile development techniques.
The position emphasizes the importance of high-quality data through unit tests, validation tests, and code reviews.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience or a recent Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, computational sciences, or related fields is required.
Familiarity with various clinical data types such as EHR/EMR, clinical trials, and claims is necessary.
Experience with medical coding systems (e.g., ICD9/10, CPT, ATC, LOINC, SNOMED, UMLS) is a plus.
Proficiency in Python and SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) is essential.
Familiarity with dataset releases/versioning for internal users is required.
Knowledge of data processing workflows, data platforms (e.g., Spark, Snowflake), and cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP) is necessary.
Experience with data and software engineering best practices and testing methodologies is required, including data provenance and collaborative development using source control management (git, bitbucket).
Benefits:
The position offers a competitive salary range of $125,000 - $170,000 USD.
