The position is for a Jr. Data Engineer at one of the largest insurers in the United States, which provides a wide range of insurance and financial services products.
The role involves acquiring, curating, and publishing data both on-premises and in the cloud for analytical or operational uses for basic to moderate scenarios.
The engineer ensures that the data is in a ready-to-use form, creating a single version of the truth for all data consumers, including business/technology users, reporting specialists, and data scientists.
Responsibilities include translating business analytic requests into design, development, testing, deployment, and production maintenance tasks.
The role requires working with various technologies, including big data, relational and non-relational databases, cloud environments, programming languages, and reporting tools, with some requiring training.
Essential functions include consulting on intermediate complexity data projects, producing data building blocks and models, creating user access methods to data, and developing scalable data pipelines.
The engineer will also prep and cleanse data for downstream reporting and apply knowledge of data governance concepts while executing projects within timelines.
Requirements:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
1-3 years of related experience is required for this position.
Proficiency in Power BI at an intermediate level is necessary.
Entry-level knowledge of SQL and ETL is required.
Fluency in English is mandatory.
