Forge is building the world’s first AI-native DevOps workspace, a unified environment that learns from every deployment, automates runbooks, and gives engineers superpowers.
The position is fully remote.
As a Forward Deployed DevOps Engineer, you will embed directly with companies, shipping infrastructure that keeps them moving fast without sacrificing reliability, best practices, or security.
You will own green-field and brown-field infrastructure, designing, building, and operating CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), monitoring, and incident response.
You will lead “day-zero” engagements, running a lightweight discovery in your first week on a new account, drafting a 30–60–90-day infrastructure plan, and driving executive buy-in.
You will ship fixes instead of tickets, holding the pager, debugging outages, and pushing code that prevents future issues.
You will level-up teams by pair-programming, running brownbags, and writing concise runbooks to help founders stay focused on product.
You will create a feedback loop back home by capturing patterns from the field to improve internal tooling and playbooks.
Requirements:
You should have 4+ years of experience building and operating production cloud infrastructure.
Proven success in juggling multiple projects or consulting engagements is required.
You must have deep experience with at least one major cloud provider and Kubernetes.
Hands-on experience with Terraform (or Pulumi/CDK) and modern CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, CircleCI, GitLab, or Buildkite is necessary.
You should possess observability skills with tools like Prometheus/Grafana, Datadog, or OpenTelemetry.
Strong fundamentals in networking, Linux, containers, and security are essential.
Titles and exact years of experience matter less than demonstrated skill and learning speed.
Benefits:
The position offers the opportunity to work in a fully remote environment.
You will have the chance to shape the future of AI-powered infrastructure.
The role provides a variety of challenges, including both green-field and brown-field projects.
You will be part of a team that values clear communication and ownership of work.
There is an emphasis on personal and professional growth through hands-on experience and collaboration with teams.
