Remote Full Stack Software Engineer

Description:

• VantAI is seeking a talented full stack software engineer to join their core application team.
• The role involves solving complex scientific problems in AI, machine learning, biology, chemistry, physics, and computational science.
• Responsibilities include developing large-scale scientific workflows and finding new ways to visually convey complex experimental and simulated data.
• The engineer will support scientists on existing workflows and proactively identify areas for increasing automation to reduce inefficiencies.
• Projects may involve developing scalable chemical databases, automating modeling, analysis, and visualization of simulations, and creating cheminformatics tools and algorithms.
• The tech stack includes Python, Go, Rust, React, and runs in Docker/Kubernetes on GCP.
• Candidates should be versatile and willing to learn across the tech stack, with a focus on making an impact and solving challenging problems.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 4+ years of work experience on a software team.
• A minimum of 2+ years of full-stack experience on a deployed product is required.
• Proficiency in Python is essential.
• Experience working in complex codebases and cloud-native architectures is necessary.
• Familiarity with modern JavaScript frontend stack, specifically React and NextJS, is required.
• A demonstrated passion for data visualization, particularly with graphs and complex data structures, is important.
• Experience in developing client-side 3D visualization libraries is preferred.
• Candidates should be able to break apart existing code and solve ad hoc problems independently.
• A strong sense of independence and ownership is required, with no task being too big or small.
• Candidates should provide guidance on implementation while being open to compromise.
• Experience supporting large-scale scientific workflows or compute environments is desired.
• Experience working on drug discovery projects is also desired.
• Knowledge of container orchestration and Kubernetes cluster development is preferred.
• Experience with IAM policy development and automation is desired.
• A BS in Computer Science or a similar field of study, or equivalent practical experience, is required.

Benefits:

• The salary range for this position in NYC is $120,000 - $190,000.
• The salary band reflects the job description and is open to negotiation for more experienced candidates.
