Description:

  • Oddball is seeking a Full Stack Engineer to contribute to a pivotal Federal program that positively impacts millions of Americans' daily lives.
  • The Full Stack Engineer will work on the Test User Portal, engaging with other VA engineers to understand their needs and facilitate communication across VA teams on technical matters.
  • Under the guidance of the Tech Lead, the engineer will enhance the Test User Portal and implement developer experience improvements, aiming for fewer defects, less toil, increased testing confidence, and greater satisfaction.
  • Experience in navigating and establishing governance is strongly preferred.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have 3+ years of experience working with a Rails backend.
  • Candidates must have 3+ years of experience with a front-end JavaScript framework, preferably React.
  • Strong experience with Python is required.
  • The ability to develop, implement, maintain, and enforce policies, procedures, standards, and requirements around testing across VA is necessary.
  • Candidates should be able to conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for testing-related risks.
  • Providing training and awareness of testing governance programs is expected.
  • A solid understanding of API design and how backend systems work is required.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment with sprints and daily stand-ups is necessary.
  • Candidates must have the ability to successfully break down technical items in discussions with business users.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills directed at both technical and non-technical audiences are essential.
  • Candidates should be capable of taking direction from senior leadership and translating it into concrete next steps and actions.
  • Candidates must perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to work domestically.
  • Must be able to attain low-level security clearance.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.
