Ardent is seeking a Geospatial Scientist, Data Collection and Quality to join their team in a remote position.
The role serves as the primary point of contact for acquiring new geospatial data critical to Homeland Security missions.
This position requires advanced expertise in geospatial data management, acquisition, quality control, and stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities include leading the development of methodologies for geospatial data collection, managing data intake, and ensuring quality control throughout acquisition and delivery processes.
The candidate will maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to data acquisition and quality assurance.
Budget management for data acquisition and defining requirements for geospatial data are also key responsibilities.
The role involves maintaining communication with data providers, negotiating licensing agreements, and providing technical support to ensure data products meet mission requirements.
The candidate will lead QA/QC efforts, manage feedback loops with data users, and develop geospatial metadata.
Automation of data processing workflows and oversight of data registration and publication within government platforms are also part of the job.
Compliance with applicable standards and regulations, monitoring performance metrics, and maintaining documentation of processes are essential duties.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 7+ years of experience leading geospatial data acquisition and quality management activities in complex government or commercial projects.
Expertise in geospatial sciences, including cartography, GIS, data management, and geospatial infrastructure, is required.
Demonstrated ability to manage vendor/provider relationships and negotiate data licensing and acquisition contracts is essential.
Experience in developing and applying QA/QC procedures and standards to geospatial datasets is necessary.
Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills are required to engage with technical teams and mission partners.
Candidates should have experience with scripting, automation, and geospatial data processing tools.
Familiarity with geospatial data standards, metadata management, and federal data policies is expected.
A proven track record of managing large-scale data projects with multiple stakeholders and distributed teams is required.
