Remote Platform Engineer (Remote)

Description:

• Lightning Labs is seeking a pragmatic senior software engineer who embraces the DevOps mindset to improve our developer experience.
• The role involves managing the underlying cloud and cluster technologies that compose our internal platform.
• The engineer will manage stateful backend services such as databases and Bitcoin/LN nodes.
• The position requires utilizing, operating, and extending observability tools including logging, monitoring, and tracing.
• The engineer will work to improve the robustness and security of our platform using enhancements like operators and overlay networks.
• The role includes advising and assisting development teams with integrations, such as Helm charts, cloud resources, and the Kubernetes lifecycle.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have strong foundations in Linux, networking, security, cloud, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Experience in managing and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters in production is required.
• The position requires operating and extending observability tools, including logging, metrics, and tracing.
• Candidates should have experience in a systems programming language such as Go, Python, or Rust.
• Preferred qualifications include advanced knowledge of cloud technologies like GitOps, DevSecOps, and service mesh.
• Experience in database administration, particularly with PostgreSQL and etcd, is preferred.
• Knowledge of Bitcoin and the Lightning Network is a plus.
• Familiarity with contributing to open source projects is also preferred.
