Remote Principal Software Engineer - Product / Frontend

Description:

• Glide is seeking a Tech Lead Manager to lead the Platform engineering team as the company grows rapidly.
• The role involves evolving data sources strategy, improving infrastructure utilization, and achieving operational excellence in availability, security, and performance.
• The ideal candidate should have experience in establishing scalable services and architectural patterns, evolving legacy services, and building data and infrastructure teams.
• Glide aims to provide a simpler, faster way for non-technical individuals to build custom software for their businesses.
• The responsibilities include facilitating standardization of data sync and persistence infrastructure, driving integrations with data source platforms, designing and maintaining a REST API, providing build and runtime infrastructure, ensuring database throttling and request rate limiting, monitoring infrastructure costs, and driving SRE tooling and best practices.
• The position also involves people management tasks such as cultivating a sense of ownership among team members, conducting regular 1-on-1 meetings, ensuring team members' growth, creating shared understanding of decision-making, encouraging technical excellence, providing project management support, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 5 years of engineering management experience is required.
• Candidates must have experience in building and maintaining highly available and scalable distributed systems.
• Previous management or experience in building an infrastructure, developer experience, data, API, or equivalent platform team is necessary.
• A deep understanding of Accelerate concepts such as Lead Time, Deployment Frequency, Mean Time to Recovery, and Change Failure Rate is essential.
• Clear and effective communication skills are required, both in writing and verbally, especially when explaining complex technical issues to non-technical colleagues.
