Glide is seeking a Tech Lead Manager to lead the Platform engineering team as the company grows rapidly.
The role involves evolving data sources strategy, improving infrastructure utilization, and achieving operational excellence in availability, security, and performance.
The ideal candidate should have experience in establishing scalable services and architectural patterns, evolving legacy services, and building data and infrastructure teams.
Glide aims to provide a simpler, faster way for non-technical individuals to build custom software for their businesses.
The responsibilities include facilitating standardization of data sync and persistence infrastructure, driving integrations with data source platforms, designing and maintaining a REST API, providing build and runtime infrastructure, ensuring database throttling and request rate limiting, monitoring infrastructure costs, and driving SRE tooling and best practices.
The position also involves people management tasks such as cultivating a sense of ownership among team members, conducting regular 1-on-1 meetings, ensuring team members' growth, creating shared understanding of decision-making, encouraging technical excellence, providing project management support, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of engineering management experience is required.
Candidates must have experience in building and maintaining highly available and scalable distributed systems.
Previous management or experience in building an infrastructure, developer experience, data, API, or equivalent platform team is necessary.
A deep understanding of Accelerate concepts such as Lead Time, Deployment Frequency, Mean Time to Recovery, and Change Failure Rate is essential.
Clear and effective communication skills are required, both in writing and verbally, especially when explaining complex technical issues to non-technical colleagues.
Candidates should be passionate, self-motivated, and able to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
