AbbVie is seeking a Security Engineer to join their Business Technology Solutions (BTS) team, working remotely.
The role involves contributing to the digital transformation of a leading biopharma company, focusing on creating solutions that positively impact patients and communities.
As part of the Information Security Risk Management architecture team, the Security Engineer will shape and guide the organization's security strategy, architecture, and practices, emphasizing security posture and hygiene.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, and implementing security controls and solutions to enhance AbbVie’s security hygiene, ensuring effective integration into IT systems and applications.
The Security Engineer will collaborate with IT, network, and other departments to align security measures with organizational goals and compliance requirements.
The role requires partnering with platform and application teams to establish security baseline requirements based on the Center for Internet Security Critical Security Controls (CIS 18).
The engineer will utilize enterprise tools for vulnerability management, asset inventory, and cyber hygiene to ensure compliance with security baseline requirements.
Developing custom integrations using APIs or scripting tools for high-risk applications to enable proactive monitoring of critical security controls is also a key responsibility.
The Security Engineer will lead initiatives to enhance the organization’s security posture, coordinating resources, setting objectives, and maintaining focus on security improvements.
Documentation management, including baselines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, and work instructions, is required to ensure accuracy and alignment with organizational standards.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in a relevant field with at least 4 years of experience is required.
Candidates must possess a deep understanding of the Center for Internet Security’s Critical Security Controls, specifically the CIS 18 framework.
Strong working knowledge in configuring common operating systems, including Windows Servers, Windows Desktops, and RedHat Linux, is necessary.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell is required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential for this role.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify security risks and propose effective solutions are necessary.
Candidates should have strong people skills and the ability to collaborate with IT stakeholders both inside and outside the organization.
Understanding and adherence to corporate standards regarding applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, data security, and the software development lifecycle, is required.
