Description:
Prompt is a mission-driven startup seeking an experienced Senior AI Engineer to advance AI initiatives in healthcare, focusing on speech and language processing.
The company provides highly automated B2B enterprise software for rehab therapy businesses, their teams, and the patients they serve.
As AI becomes central to product development and internal operations, the Senior AI Engineer will design, evaluate, and monitor end-to-end AI systems.
The role involves contributing to product-facing AI and developing internal AI tools to enhance efficiency, decision-making, and quality across various departments.
This position requires high ownership in building systems, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring AI tools deliver real value.
Responsibilities include driving the mission to improve healthcare through technology, leading AI projects from ideation to production, designing and deploying AI systems, and developing evaluation metrics.
The engineer will also build guardrails around LLM pipelines, create rapid proofs-of-concept, and help grow the AI team by training junior members.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 4+ years of experience in building AI/ML systems in industry or academia, with significant production ownership.
Strong experience in building and operating AI systems end-to-end is required, not just isolated models.
Proficiency with LLM-based systems, including programmatic prompt optimization and multi-step workflows, is essential.
A solid understanding of evaluation and measurement for AI systems, including offline metrics and cost tracking, is necessary.
The ability to work closely with non-technical stakeholders to translate workflows into effective AI solutions is crucial.
Strong software engineering fundamentals and the capability to deliver maintainable, production-grade systems are required.
A track record of improving accuracy, cost, and latency is expected.
Excellent communication skills to explain complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders are important.
Proficiency in Python (>3.9) and basic knowledge of Docker are required, with familiarity with AWS preferred.
A strong problem-solving mindset and the ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments are necessary.
Candidates must be willing to learn about the healthcare sector, particularly in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy.
This role requires a heavy code contribution; it is not an engineering management position, though growth opportunities may arise.
Benefits:
The position offers competitive salaries and a remote/hybrid work environment.
Potential equity compensation is available for outstanding performance.
Employees enjoy flexible PTO and company-sponsored lunches.
The company provides paid disability and life insurance benefits, as well as family and medical leave.
Medical, dental, and vision insurance benefits are included, along with discounted pet insurance.
Additional benefits include FSA/DCA and commuter benefits, a 401k plan, and credits for online fitness classes or gym memberships.
Employees have access to a recovery suite at HQ, which includes a cold plunge, sauna, and shower.
