The role of Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Backend/Data Performance) involves building foundational pipelines to support ESP's mission.
Responsibilities include designing and optimizing high-performance data pipelines for distributed training and storage, focusing on low-level optimizations, building monitoring and visualization tools, optimizing distributed AI workloads, supervising projects for effective collaboration, and supporting recruiting efforts for the infrastructure team.
Requirements:
Candidates should have 5+ years of backend or infrastructure engineering experience.
Strong Python programming skills are required, with bonus points for knowledge of lower-level languages.
Experience with distributed systems and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure is necessary.
Hands-on experience with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes, as well as infrastructure as code using Terraform, is required.
Candidates should have experience building or supporting ML/AI infrastructure in production.
Familiarity with high-performance data tools like DuckDB, Apache Spark, and Delta Lake is essential.
Experience with GPU orchestration and large-scale model training is required, along with familiarity with ML platforms and frameworks like SageMaker, Vertex AI, PyTorch, or JAX.
Candidates should have experience mentoring junior engineers, interns, or researchers and breaking down complex projects into manageable tasks.
Experience participating in technical hiring processes and evaluating candidates is also required.
