Remote Senior Network Engineer

Description:

• Manage, monitor, and maintain network infrastructure including Starlink, Meraki switches/WAP, Palo Alto firewalls/VPN, AWS VPC, and AWS Transit Gateway.
• Serve as a technical architect and consultant for network design and troubleshooting in a microservices & container-based environment (AWS, Kubernetes).
• Collaborate with IT leadership on projects, identify new products & solutions, and research solutions.
• Promote good network design practices emphasizing security, redundancy, and automation.
• Mentor service desk technicians for level 1 and 2 support.
• Act as the technical escalation point for network issues and monitor security alerts.
• Maintain technical documentation and communicate with stakeholders regarding incidents and changes.
• Participate in on-call support rotation and provide backup for systems engineering colleagues.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience managing on-prem & cloud network environments.
• Experience in network design and troubleshooting in a cloud-based microservices environment (AWS, Kubernetes).
• Expert-level knowledge of enterprise network protocols & platforms (IPSec, VPN, DNS, SNMP, OSPF, BGP, AWS VPC).
• Deep understanding of cloud and virtualization technologies impacting network performance.
• Strong understanding of network security requirements & best practices.
• Hands-on experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, etc.).
• Mid-level Windows and Linux server administration capabilities.
• Experience writing detailed project proposals and working with vendors.
• Strong interpersonal & communication skills, ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Industry certifications (Cisco CCNP, Palo Alto PCNSE/PCNSA, Network+) are a plus.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.
