AbbVie is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to join their Business Technology Solutions (BTS) team, which focuses on digital transformation in the biopharma sector.
This position is remote and can be based virtually anywhere in the U.S.
The Senior Security Engineer will be part of the Information Security Risk Management architecture team, responsible for shaping the organization's security strategy, architecture, and practices with an emphasis on cyber posture and hygiene.
Key responsibilities include providing technical leadership and mentoring to less experienced team members, prioritizing remediation efforts based on risk, developing scripts for API interactions, creating dashboards for configuration monitoring, and collaborating with internal teams to enhance the cyber hygiene program.
The role also involves ensuring compliance with corporate standards and continuously monitoring assets for configuration drift.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s Degree with 6 years of experience, a Master’s Degree with 5 years of experience, or a PhD with no experience in information security or related fields such as IT Audit, Risk Management, or Security Architecture is required.
Candidates must have a strong understanding of current cybersecurity tools for continuous monitoring, including Tenable, CrowdStrike, and Windows Defender.
Proficiency in using Splunk for data analysis and security monitoring is essential.
Experience with scripting languages like Python, Bash, and PowerShell for API interactions is required.
Expert knowledge of operating systems, networking protocols, system administration, and security technologies is necessary.
A proficient understanding of cybersecurity frameworks such as CIS Critical Security Controls, NIST CSF, and NIST 800-53 is expected.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are required, along with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Professional cybersecurity certifications (CISSP, CEH, CompTIA Security+, CCSP, GSEC) are highly desirable.
The candidate should be highly autonomous and productive, requiring minimal direction from management.
