As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help scale the technology as the business continues to grow, focusing on shipping software that matters to customers and their end consumers.
You will innovate on various aspects of the platform used by the engineering organization to deliver high quality, highly scalable, and highly secure products.
You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing Marqeta’s risk engine and decisioning systems, helping customers control their risk.
Marqeta provides payment authorization decisioning, cardholder data security, instant card issuing, in-app provisioning directly to digital wallets, and real-time funding with exclusive Just-in-Time (JIT) funding.
Participation in a rotational on-call pager duty is a required part of the software engineering role.
This role can be performed remotely anywhere within the United States.
Requirements:
You must have 5+ years of experience as a backend engineer with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years of experience with an advanced degree. In lieu of a degree, 8+ years of relevant experience may suffice.
You should have demonstrated software development experience in Java and microservices architecture with real-time event-based processing.
Java and Spring Boot experience is preferred, but experience in different programming languages is also welcome.
You need platform engineering experience, preferably with AWS, and experience with Infrastructure as Code, specifically Terraform.
You should have demonstrated experience with deploying and maintaining distributed systems on AWS.
A passion for writing code with great quality and test coverage is essential.
You must have demonstrated experience with Agile Scrum and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
