Remote Senior Software Engineer, Search

Description:

• Vannevar is a defense technology company focused on AI to deter adversaries, particularly in the context of U.S.-China relations.
• The Senior Software Engineer will enhance the search capabilities of Vannevar’s flagship platform, collaborating with ML and product teams to improve user access to mission-critical information.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of backend software development experience, with 3+ years in search or information retrieval.
• Expertise in information retrieval, NLP, and machine learning, including indexing, ranking, and vector search.
• Hands-on experience with major search engines (e.g., Elasticsearch) and familiarity with search evaluation frameworks.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
• U.S. Person status required for access to U.S. only data systems.
