OpenSea is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to lead the design and implementation of scalable data infrastructure for analytics and insights related to millions of NFT transactions and digital asset activities.
This role involves working at the intersection of blockchain analytics and large-scale data engineering, architecting the data backbone for one of the leading platforms in web3.
Responsibilities include designing and implementing end-to-end data pipelines for processing blockchain and digital asset data at scale, creating and maintaining business-critical dashboards, and developing robust ETL processes using SQL.
The engineer will also build and maintain Change Data Capture (CDC) solutions, configure data streaming solutions for real-time processing, and implement data governance and security controls.
Additional tasks include optimizing multi-cluster Snowflake data warehouses and managing automated scheduling systems for data transformation tasks.
Requirements:
Candidates must have expert-level proficiency in SQL and modern data stack technologies.
Hands-on experience with Snowflake or similar data warehousing tools, including multi-cluster warehouse configuration and optimization, is required.
A strong background in CDC solutions and real-time data streaming technologies such as Kafka and Confluent is necessary.
Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases, specifically Postgres and MongoDB, is essential.
A proven track record of building ETL/ELT pipelines that process terabytes of data daily is expected.
Understanding of blockchain/NFT data structures and metadata standards is important.
Candidates should have experience implementing data governance, security controls, and access management.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams are required.
A high ownership mentality and an AI-forward mindset with hands-on experience adopting and integrating AI tools are desired.
