Remote Staff Software Engineer, Factory Infrastructure

Description:

• Redwood Materials is focused on localizing a global battery supply chain that integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling of critical minerals.
• The company was founded in 2019 and aims to deliver low-cost, large-scale energy storage while producing battery materials in the U.S. from existing batteries.
• The Staff Software Engineer, Factory Infrastructure will design and implement cloud infrastructure and software architecture for factory control systems.
• This role involves creating robust testing environments for Beckhoff PLC-based factory control systems.
• The engineer will work at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, industrial automation, and software architecture.
• Responsibilities include designing AWS infrastructure using the Cloud Development Kit (CDK), leading deployment and simulation infrastructure development, and creating documentation and training materials.
• Collaboration with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and mentor engineers is also a key aspect of the role.

Requirements:

• A B.S. or advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with significant relevant work experience is required.
• A minimum of 5+ years of software development experience with expertise in infrastructure, systems design, and AWS services, preferably using AWS CDK.
• Experience in designing and implementing deployment pipelines, testing frameworks, and simulation environments is necessary; familiarity with industrial control systems or PLCs is a plus.
• A strong understanding of software architecture patterns and the ability to provide technical guidance to engineers from diverse backgrounds is essential.
• Excellent communication skills, a self-motivated attitude, and a passion for sustainability are required.
• Physical requirements include the ability to perform essential job functions safely and successfully, maintain regular attendance, and work in challenging conditions.
