The T&I Engineer will perform interconnection modeling analyses and studies and participate in interconnection scoping meetings and negotiations with third parties and grid authorities.
The role requires a thorough understanding of integrating a BESS utility scale power plant into the power grid and its implications on grid operations and resource planning.
Responsibilities include conducting steady state power transmission system analysis, managing generator interconnection processes, conducting IBR modeling, and ensuring compliance with grid performance standards.
The engineer will also provide technical advice on transmission and distribution interconnection issues and assess transmission reliability issues.
Requirements:
A minimum of a BA/BS in electrical engineering; a master's degree in electrical engineering is preferred, especially with a specialization in Power and Energy Systems.
At least two to five years of professional experience in the power and energy industry, with a focus on electrical systems; experience in renewable energy is strongly preferred.
A strong background in power systems, analytical and modeling skills are required; experience with complex electrical systems simulations is preferred.
Proficiency in power system modeling software such as PSCAD, PSLF, and PSSE is necessary.
Strong subject matter expertise in organized markets other than ERCOT (e.g., CAISO, SPP, MISO, PJM) is required.
Demonstrated experience with inverter-based plant modeling and the ability to perform power flow analyses.
Strong presentation and written communication skills are essential, with the ability to engage with customers and stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required.
