Description:

Figma is seeking an AI Applied Scientist to join their team, focusing on making design accessible to all.
The role involves driving fundamental and applied research in machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI).
The candidate will explore the boundaries of current technology and combine industry best practices with a first-principles approach to design and build ML models.
The position requires collaboration with product and infrastructure engineers to enhance Figma’s design and collaboration tools through ML-powered features.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in programming languages such as Python, C++, Java, or R.
A minimum of 3+ years of experience in machine learning, natural language processing/understanding, computer vision, or generative models is required.
Proven experience in researching, building, and/or fine-tuning ML models in production environments is essential.
Experience in communicating and working across functions to drive solutions is necessary.
While not required, a proven track record of planning a multi-year roadmap with shorter-term projects leading to a long-term vision is a plus.
Experience in mentoring or influencing senior engineers across organizations is also considered an added advantage.
