Description:

• The AI Engineer will be the most senior engineer on the team, focusing on developing conversational AI solutions for full-service restaurants.
• This role involves working at the intersection of machine learning, software engineering, and conversation design to enhance customer experiences.
• The engineer will report directly to the VP of Engineering and have high-impact technical leadership responsibilities.
• Responsibilities include mentoring a team of approximately 10 engineers in AI development practices and collaborating with a core team of 3-4 engineers on the conversational AI platform.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have at least 7+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years in the machine learning domain and 2+ years working with large language models (LLMs).
• A BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field is required.
• Experience in shipping production conversational AI systems and products with LLMs is essential.
• Candidates should have experience with A/B/N testing and causal inference methods for validating success.
• Strong strategic and creative thinking skills regarding product, tech debt, and performance trade-offs are necessary.
• Excellent communication skills, particularly with non-technical stakeholders, are required.
• A desire to mentor engineers and a proactive approach to building end-to-end solutions are important.
• Experience with voice/telephone AI systems and a background in restaurant/hospitality tech are preferred.
• A track record of building and leading engineering teams, along with published research or contributions to the AI/ML community, is advantageous.
