Description:

  • The AI Engineering Intern will support AI-first initiatives by building production-ready systems that extract, structure, and analyze data from PDF documents.
  • The role involves working across backend, AI, and frontend systems, making it ideal for someone passionate about AI and the legal tech industry.
  • The intern will develop AI pipelines to extract structured data from PDFs using machine learning models and integrate pre-trained/custom models for field detection, layout analysis, and document parsing.
  • Responsibilities include implementing OCR and computer vision techniques for layout detection and field recognition, as well as creating and maintaining RESTful APIs for AI services using .NET and AWS Lambda.
  • The intern will also build and integrate React-based UIs that visualize AI outputs, enhance PDF viewing with field highlighting, annotations, and feedback indicators, and implement user interactions and real-time processing updates.
  • Additionally, the role includes working with AWS services like Bedrock, Textract, Lambda, and S3, optimizing inference pipelines and API responsiveness, and implementing testing and monitoring strategies for AI components.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must be pursuing a degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, or Data Science, with relevant coursework or projects in machine learning, computer vision, or natural language processing.
  • The ideal candidate should be independent, curious, and driven to solve hard problems, eager to learn, and comfortable in fast-paced startup environments.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to shipping high-quality code are essential.
  • Proficiency in Python for machine learning/AI and JavaScript/TypeScript is required.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch is necessary.
  • Familiarity with AWS services including Textract, Bedrock, Lambda, and S3 is expected.
  • Experience with React and RESTful APIs is required, along with strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Candidates should have Git proficiency and experience with collaborative workflows.
  • Nice-to-have skills include experience with document processing libraries, OCR and computer vision tools, NLP/text extraction experience, familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases and .NET (C#), and knowledge of Docker and testing tools for machine learning systems.
