Description:

We are seeking a full-stack engineer to take ownership of AI agent workflows at Anara, a company focused on transforming scientific research.
This role involves building the technical foundation for features that will significantly impact how scientists discover information and collaborate.
The tech stack includes Next.js, TRPC, Tailwind CSS, Drizzle, Prisma for databases, AWS (SST/EC2), NextAuth, Turborepo, and Python.
Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and optimizing AI agent workflows and infrastructure for reliability and scalability.
The engineer will collaborate with the engineering team to improve response quality, latency, and robustness of the RAG pipeline.
Monitoring and optimizing system performance and costs is essential, requiring pragmatic tradeoffs for efficiency.
Establishing best practices for prompt engineering and deploying new models and workflows is a key task.
The role also involves designing and automating evaluation pipelines to measure and improve AI agent quality and reliability.
Anara is based in San Francisco, with team members distributed across the US and Europe, and offers visa sponsorship for those interested in relocating.

Requirements:

Candidates should be quick, scrappy, and primarily hackers/builders, capable of moving from idea to production in days.
Experience in shipping complex backend and AI/ML features to real users is required.
Hands-on experience with full stack agent behaviors, LLMs, RAG, and agent architectures is necessary.
Previous work in a high-growth, fast-paced environment, ideally in a startup, is preferred, with the ability to drive projects forward with minimal oversight.
