Remote AI Safety Engineer (Back-End)

Description:

• The role is for an experienced backend engineer with a focus on trust and safety at Eleven Labs, a company pioneering voice technology.
• The position is remote, with a preference for candidates located on the East Coast of the United States or in Europe (New York, London, Warsaw, Berlin).
• As a core member of the Safety Engineering function, the engineer will lead the design and implementation of systems that detect and prevent abuse, promote user safety, and reduce risk across the platform.
• Responsibilities include architecting, building, and maintaining anti-abuse and content moderation infrastructure, developing moderation coverage, expanding internal safety tooling, collaborating with engineering teams on safety mitigations, and working with the data team to maintain safety metrics.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have strong experience in Python, including asynchronous Python, and a proven track record of building production Python applications.
• A strong background in backend development is required, including setting up and maintaining production backend services and data pipelines.
• Familiarity with software and system design patterns, APIs, cloud infrastructure tools, storage solutions, and data structures is necessary.
• Knowledge of test design and security fundamentals is essential.
• Strong candidates will also have experience with backend safety infrastructure, trust and safety teams, SQL and data analysis tools, React, and collaboration with technical investigators and machine learning engineers.
