Mistral AI is seeking an AI Scientist to join their team in Palo Alto, with the option for remote work.
The role involves modifying pre-trained large language models to enhance human interaction capabilities.
Responsibilities include equipping large language models with the ability to call external tools and aligning them based on deployment feedback or through ad-hoc annotation processes.
The candidate will also design ad-hoc annotation processes and participate in the pre-training efforts of large language models.

Requirements:

Candidates must possess a high scientific understanding of generative AI, including broad knowledge of AI and specific interest in fine-tuning language models for applications.
A high level of technical engineering competence is required, including the ability to design complex software for production use.
Applicants should be familiar with the full MLOps technical stack, emphasizing architecture development and model evaluation.
Occasional front-end development experience and the ability to work with complex HPC infrastructure autonomously are necessary.
Hands-on experience with AI frameworks and tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Jax is essential.
Experience working with large distributed systems is required.
Candidates should be self-starters, autonomous, low-ego, and possess a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
Ideal candidates will have experience in audio/speech technologies, including audio input/output and NLP.
