Description:
CitizenShipper is a remote-first, US-based two-sided marketplace focused on revolutionizing pet transportation.
The company is looking for an AI/ML Engineer to build the core intelligence of their marketplace, which includes driver and customer matching, route optimization, price prediction, fraud detection, and more.
The role involves designing, deploying, and owning machine learning models that solve real business problems.
The engineer will be the founding ML hire, responsible for the entire ML lifecycle from data to deployment.
The position requires working closely with product and engineering teams and reporting directly to the CEO.
The work environment is fast-paced, with a focus on real-world data and high-stakes impact.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in ML/AI, whether in industry, startups, or serious research.
Experience in building and deploying ML systems at scale is essential.
A strong understanding of LLMs, embeddings, and transformers is required.
Proficiency in Python, vector databases, and modern ML tooling is necessary.
Candidates should have an instinct for product development and the ability to work independently without detailed specifications.
The ideal candidate thrives under pressure, is eager to ship products, and seeks ownership and upside rather than work-life balance.
Bonus points for experience in marketplaces, end-to-end project building, or shipping LLM products.
Benefits:
Employees can participate in a Book Club, receiving reimbursement for professional development books up to $50/month.
There is a $2,000 annual budget for professional development, along with 3 paid days off to attend courses, conferences, or trainings.
The company offers generous vacation time, 5 national holidays per year, and 5 additional bereavement days.
Once per quarter, employees can reduce their workload to 15-20 hours/week to recharge and prevent burnout.
Parental leave includes up to 14 weeks of paid maternity/paternity leave with flexible options.
Employees receive 7 days of paid sick leave annually, with extended paid leave options available in serious cases.
A referral bonus is also part of the benefits package.
