Description:

  • The role is for an Android Engineer responsible for developing the WorldStar HipHop and Amino apps.
  • WorldStar HipHop is the leading urban news platform in the US, featuring music videos, user footage, comedy, sports highlights, and more.
  • Amino is a social networking platform that allows users to connect over shared interests and create communities around specific topics.
  • Responsibilities include owning the end-to-end development, testing, and maintenance of both apps.
  • The engineer will deliver reliable software through code reviews and best engineering practices.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving bugs while optimizing performance and user experience is essential.
  • The role involves documenting technical details and contributing to long-term application planning and feature development.
  • Collaboration with the team to produce high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested code is required.
  • The engineer will partner with team leads and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver features on time and to specification.
  • Advocating for emerging technologies and modernizing legacy code is part of the job.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4+ years of native Android development experience is required.
  • Additional software development experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A B.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • A solid understanding of Android tools such as Android SDK, Android Studio, and Gradle is necessary.
  • A good understanding of commonly used libraries like Jetpack, Compose, Retrofit, and Firebase is required.
  • Proficiency in Java and Kotlin is essential.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools is necessary.
  • The candidate must be self-motivated with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A passion for writing clean, well-organized, and production-ready code is important.
  • At least one application built and available in the Play Store is required.
