Description:
The API Software Engineer at Ascend Analytics will be responsible for designing and writing clean, scalable production code primarily in Python for backend development and JavaScript for frontend development.
Responsibilities include refactoring code for improved performance, stability, and scalability, developing automatic tests and deployment scripts, implementing systems for data collection, storage, and processing at scale, and integrating mathematical and data science models into production software.
The role involves collaborating with analysts, data scientists, and technical sales teams, participating in technical design reviews, implementation strategies, and sprint planning within an agile scrum process.
Communication skills are essential for interacting with technical and nontechnical stakeholders, contributing to scoping and design discussions, and working with cross-functional teams.
Requirements:
A BS or MS in Engineering, Computer Science, Data/Information Science, Physics, Operations Research, Statistics, Economics, or Power Systems, or equivalent work experience is required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a back-end software engineer.
Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Ruby, .NET, Java, C++, C#, Kotlin, Rust, or JavaScript with demonstrated object-oriented design skills.
Strong familiarity with data processing in Python, including Pandas, Numpy, Sympy, and Scikit-Learn, is preferred.
Experience in designing and developing full-stack applications, RESTful web services, cloud computing platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS), containerization (e.g., Docker), data science, machine learning, data visualization, and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, teamwork abilities, and a passion for renewables and storage.
Knowledge of wholesale electricity markets and experience with code review, architecture, development, and promotion processes.
