Remote Application Reliability Engineer (Java, JavaScript, MySQL)

Description:

• Natera is seeking an Application Reliability Engineer to enhance the reliability of customer-facing applications.
• The role involves identifying patterns and opportunities to improve application stability through automation and code changes.
• Responsibilities include enhancing application observability by optimizing metrics, logs, and traces.
• The engineer will perform code fixes for problem resolution and production deployments with minimal supervision.
• Conducting root cause analysis of critical production issues and planning corresponding resolution steps is essential.
• The position requires conducting postmortem meetings to engage relevant stakeholders, including application teams and production support.
• The engineer will also build tools to transition from repeatable processes to automated solutions.

Requirements:

• A BS or MS degree in Computer Science is required.
• Candidates must have 3 to 5 years of experience in software development.
• Experience with AWS services is necessary.
• The ability to decompose complex systems and identify failure scenarios is essential.
• Proficiency in writing complex SQL statements is required.
• Strong empathy for the end user and a passion for user experience are important.
• Candidates must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary.
• The ability to multitask and attention to detail are crucial for this role.
• Hands-on experience with Development to Production processes, including testing and version control tools like git, is required.
• Good hands-on experience in Linux, Containers, Scripting, and SQL is necessary.
• Candidates should demonstrate initiative with a proactive approach to addressing issues and finding creative solutions.
• A strong work ethic and the ability to work well under pressure are essential.
• Willingness to be on-call is required.
